Introduction

A unique tiny variety of bananas that are sweet and creamy with a pronounced flavour resembling green apples! Similar to the bananas found in supermarkets, but the texture is different.

Vitamin contents

Baby bananas are fibre-rich.

High in magnesium, iron, zinc and copper. They contain  Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, K, Niacin, and Pantothenic Acid are present.

History

The Baby banana, a native of Columbia, grows in bunches called “hands” on a plant the size of a tree. The individual fruits, sometimes known as fingers, can range in number from 10 to 12 bananas per hand. The bananas are picked and transported when they are still green, allowing the consumer to select the level of maturity they prefer for eating.

Regions

Baby bananas grow best in wet tropical conditions like South America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.

Flavours & Texture

These organic untreated bananas may contain blemishes on the skin. They also tend to have marks on the sides towards the top of the fruit. This is caused by the way they rest on neighbouring bananas when they grow in tightly packed bunches. Please be assured that despite the few marks on the skin, they will still taste just as great!

Preparation

Because of their creamy, rich flesh, Baby bananas are valued and make excellent dessert bananas. The fruits can be eaten raw or sliced lengthwise and covered in nut butter as a snack, added to yoghurt or breakfast bowls, or cut and piled on toast. Also in puddings, cakes, muffins, bread, cookies, ice cream, tarts, smoothies, baby food and other baked goods.
