Introduction
The baby pineapple is about 5 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter, resembling a standard pineapple. Compared to full-grown varieties, they typically have a sweeter flavour.
Vitamin contents
Vitamin C content is high in baby pineapple. Additionally, it has calcium, folic acid, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and vitamins A, B6, E, and K.
History
These miniature pineapples flourish in hot, humid weather. Since the middle of the 1980s, the queen pineapple variety has been grown in the northern Zulu territory of South Africa’s Hluhluwe. Also growing are baby pineapples in Thailand, Hawaii, and Brazil.
Regions
Brazil, Hawaii, and Thailand are the world’s top producers of baby pineapples, but they are also grown in other places. Significant quantities of baby pineapple are produced in the Philippines, India, and Costa Rica.
Flavours & Texture
It has a strong pineapple flavour and a less fibrous core that can be eaten. They are often richer in flavour, softer in texture, and sweeter than the typical pineapple.
How to eat?
Cut the pineapple in quarters from top to bottom leaving the crown on. No need to cut out the mid-section of the pineapple, for there is no core.
Preparation
You can eat it raw, in a fruit salad, in smoothies, juices or cocktails. Additionally, you can use them in a variety of foods.
